In 1968, Mr. Charlie Harrison founded Harley-Davidson of Hapeville, Georgia. The dealership re-located to Clayton County, Georgia in 1977 and began doing business as Clayton County Harley-Davidson. The dealership boasts a 60,000 square foot facility on 7 acres. It is the biggest Harley-Davidson dealership in the Atlanta Metro area. Having been located in Metro Atlanta for over 40 years, in Clayton County for over 26 years, and being family owned and operated, Clayton County Harley-Davidson has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with loyal and repeat customers. Founder, Mr. Charlie Harrison passed away in 2009. His wife and co-owner, Coweta Harrison ran the day-to-day operations until the sale of the dealership on Thursday, June 26, 2014.
The new owner is Mr. Gene Preston, current owner of Thunder Tower Harley-Davidson along with his son Chris Preston. Gene and his wife had always hoped to purchase a dealership in the Atlanta area where they enjoy a second home. While attending the national Harley-Davidson summer conference, Gene and his wife met George Chaconas, who heads Performance Brokerage Services’ National Harley-Davidson and Powersports Division. Having informed George of their desires and affinity towards the Atlanta market, the Preston family was George’s first thought when he came across the opportunity to represent Clayton County Harley-Davidson for sale.
George C. Chaconas, the representative for this transaction, stated after the sale, “I thank Coweta Harrison for the opportunity to represent her and the iconic dealership. It also gives me tremendous pleasure to assist the Preston family in accomplishing their goals.”
