H & J Chevrolet has been a family owned and operated fixture in the community of Kerman, California for over 57 years since founded by John Teixeira. John’s sons, Rick and Mike eventually took over the family business and have since upheld their father’s legacy of outstanding customer service and integrity. H & J Chevrolet is one of a few dealerships to receive a highly prestigious 50-Year Service Award from General Motors for exceptional service and goodwill in their community.
Over the last 5 years, Performance Brokerage Services has advised on the sale of over 300 dealerships, making it the highest volume dealership brokerage firm in North America. In 2022, the company consummated 92 transactions, marking a record-breaking year. Jay Gill, President and CEO of Gill Automotive Group, was born in India and migrated to the United States with his family at the age of 8. After his arrival, Gill spent many of his childhood days picking fruits and vegetables alongside his family as a hired hand on a farm. At the time, Gill never imagined that one day he’d be living the American Dream, running a large and profitable automotive group.
Gill began his career in the automotive industry in his early twenties when he took a position selling used cars. He quickly discovered that he enjoyed the business and had a knack for selling vehicles. Gill eventually transitioned to becoming a dealership owner when he established Gill Automotive Group in 1997. Gill’s business savvy and dedication allowed him to successfully grow his company over the next 25 years. With the acquisition of H & J Chevrolet, Gill Automotive Group currently operates 10 dealerships, with 9 in Northern & Central California and one dealership in Hawaii.
Jay Gill’s nephew, David Gill, also entered the auto industry with tremendous ambition. In 2016, David independently established a used car dealership, Auto Dealz of Fresno, and quickly managed to drive retail volume to over 1,000 units a year. David’s success caught the attention of General Motors and he gained approval as a new car dealer after attending the General Motors Holding Academy. David Gill will now apply his experience as a first time co-owner, and operate H & J Chevrolet alongside his industry veteran uncle.

The dealership will remain at its current location at 14680 West Whitesbridge Avenue in Kerman, California and will be renamed Gill Chevrolet of Kerman.
